India's earthquake centre said it measured magnitude 4.9 and was centred in Bahadurgarh in Haryana state, about 50km (30 miles) west of Delhi.

The US Geological Survey said the quake measured 5.2 and was at a depth of 19km (12 miles).

No damage or casualties in Delhi or Bahadurgarh have been reported, officials said.

The quake hit at 13:10 (07:40 GMT), India's Earthquake Operational Centre said.

Delhi is close to several fault lines and recently held a major earthquake drill.
